How convenient would it be if our new Honda parked itself?  Then, when we are finished with whatever we are doing, it came back up to that same drop off point, and picked us up. Well, would you believe it if we told you that Honda has actually developed such technology? Dubbed Driverless Valet Parking, and is just one part of its efforts to make fully autonomous cars by 2020.

This particular system will work with parking lots, where cameras and sensors will be installed throughout. Then, using the rearview camera that can be found on many Honda models, including theFit, which is serving as the test vehicle for this project, the cars are able to maneuver and find a parking space safely.

You will discover that the advantages of this system is that no additional sensors will be required on the vehicle itself, instead, it will be able to function in a parking lot that comes equipped with the right technology. Honda knows that this technology can be limiting, which is why Driverless Valet Parking is only one small piece of inventive idea. The automaker will continue to search for solutions to automated driving across the board.
