With the May sales records in, all of us here atMillennium Honda are quite pleased with the results. The new Honda lineup continues to please drivers in the greater Hempstead, NY area and beyond, and the recently released sales numbers indicate that the automaker is going to be having quite a year. Let's take a closer look at the overall results.
American Honda Motor Co. saw an increase of 4.5 percent, year-over-year, with a total of 140,013 units sold during the month of May. More specifically, the Honda brand experienced a sale of 125,649 units, an increase of 5.2 percent when compared to last year's sales.
Which models contributed the most to this boost in sales? The Honda Accord performed strongly with a 11.7 percent sales increase, a total of 33,218 models sold. This was followed by theFit with sales increasing by an impressive 20.3 percent with 4,667 models sold. Record sales were recorded by the CR-V as well, with a sales boost of 8.4 percent.
John Mendel, executive vice president of Sales at American Honda, comments on these strong results and explains, "Looks like American families are preparing for summer road trips as our family-friendly light truck lineup posted the best May sales in Honda history. Virtually every Honda vehicle we sold in May represents a purchase by an individual customer, which means Accord, Civic, CR-V and Odyssey will maintain their industry-leading retail sales performance in 2013."1
